Alexis's Art Portfolio

These are a representative few examples of Alexis's art production. The art staff at Hope University wrote the following about her work:

"Alexis D'Luna's color palette is assertive and consistent, whereas some artists pull from color palettes of subtle tinted and toned hues. Her saturated compositions are always anchored in a bold use of red, often paired with smaller amounts of yellow, green or black. She is an energetic artist, painting vast swathes of paint on the paper or canvas in short order, yet methodical as well, repeating her brushstroke, layering her marks. The conceptual development of Alexis's work is uniquely her own, she is often inspired by her family, familial events and relationships which she re-envisions for the viewer in colored pencil, collage or paint."

‘Pizza Huts’ in crayon
This sketch was recently discovered at Hope University. What was first believed to be a red hat, upon further consideration, was clearly revealed to be the iconic Pizza Hut ‘red roof’, which is also their corporate logo. Clearly, the pizza is loaded with Alexis’s favorite toppings: black olives, green peppers, pepperoni and sausage. Another aspect of note is that this is a pan pizza and Alexis has used perspective to create depth. The front of the pan is deeper while the back edge of the pan narrows. Additionally, this sketch features another Alexis favorite: a bottle of red pepper flakes!

  3. With the birth of your nephew and namesake, Xavier Alexis, you have gained another fan. Xavier has, from his earliest days, loved to gaze at your vibrant 'Adrienne Wedding Cake' painting which hangs in Adrienne and Alfonso's home in their dining room. Xavier also enjoys looking at your picture. We are so proud that Adrienne and Alfonso honored you by giving their first child your name.

Xavier is adorable and we so often think about how you would love him and enjoy his little antics.
