Unless you have a child with a
disability in your home, it may be difficult to imagine how, even at age 25,
her struggles, achievements, joys and interests became the united passions and
motivators of her family. A common desire was to support, encourage, revel in
her achievements/progress, and to love and please her. The family was woven
into her life and she into theirs. Her untimely death has left a very big hole
in their lives.
The D’Luna family is tremendously grateful to staff, artists, musicians and friends for the joy, passionate intent and friendship that was infused in Alexis’s every day. She was proud to be an artist. It was clear that Alexis set herself goals to be successful and she increased her skills in independence, in art, in knitting, in bells, in music, in performance, in yoga, in expressive language and in enjoyment of socially interacting with her friends. It is gratifying that she achieved success in all!
Due to changes, The D'Luna Family now requests all donations in memory of Alexis be directed to ASPIRE Creative Arts Program. http://www.aspirearts.org/
What an amazing youg lady. I am so grateful to have known her and her family! They are all a blessing, to one another and to all those who have the good fortune to meet them.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for your loss - and yet so grateful for who you are!
